Project Feedback
Gameplay Demo
For this group project, I primarily worked as the "Acting" Lead Level Designer, responsible for crafting both the tutorial and main levels of our vertical slice. My focus was on designing intuitive environments that effectively introduced the game’s mechanics while maintaining a strong sense of pacing and player engagement.
Key Contributions / Responsibilities:
-
Level Design: Designed and built the tutorial and main levels, ensuring smooth difficulty progression and a natural introduction to core mechanics. Ensuring I followed the industry standard level design pipeline from the Asset List creation through to Level Sketches, Blockout and Environment Art pass with more details such as lighting.
-
Technical Art: Handled lighting, performance optimization, and asset/material integration to enhance visual quality and maintain efficiency.
-
Gameplay / Asset Implementation: Assisted programmers by working on key mechanics, including the Goblin spawning system and various gameplay elements alongside the implementation of our 3D Assets (Textures, Materials etc)
-
Collaboration & Mentorship: Acted as a mentor to other level designers, providing feedback and guidance to maintain consistency across levels. I also helped bridge communication between or 2/3D Design and Programming teams to ensure smooth integration of mechanics and assets.
-
Project Management & Problem-Solving: Maintained strong team communication, met deadlines, managed expectations, and resolved conflicts. My contributions were reflected in the group peer assessment, where I received a 5/5 rating for teamwork and reliability.

Final Submission Main Level
Scrapped Main Level (Overview)
This original Main Level was scrapped for the final game submission as the Producer had planned & assigned me to showcase the Level with 2 completely different environment styles but our group ended up voting to remove the Level entirely and left me to create a new one in a very short space of time.
