My Work / WIP

This was our entry for the "Little Guy Game Jam" over on Itch with the theme funny enough being "little guy" in the end... So below is our submission featuring our adorable little guy named "Grub".

For this project I mainly worked on the endless level generation using prefab level blueprints with Unreal Engine's level streaming to make a quick smooth transition between each level which in the end worked great.

Additionally I was responsible for all the UI implementation and functionallity using blueprints again. I ended up with a Main menu with all the essentials "Play" "Quit" and "Settings". Also was able to fit in a Credits menu with all of the individuals who worked on this Jam.

Lastly I was also tasked with the level design and set dressing which I sadly during the Jam didn't get to spend much time on due to time constraints. However during development of one of the shaders I was using to create the 'transparent' objects when the Player is out of view, I accidently forgot to move a giant plane I had ontop of the level during a play session and noticed it fit so well with the environment and retro effect I had created... [See Images below] This sparked the idea to keep it and after showing the team they also thought so too and believe it really adds a unique aesthetic / style to our game! I plan on using this with some parameters to decrease the vision when hit with a unique enemy attack to slightly disrupt the Player.

We sadly ran out of time in the end and didn't get to implement the enemies into the levels but the overall feedback we recieved was great with many people commenting on the art... so with this all in mind, we decided and are continuing to work on this post submission [August 1st 2025].

Build is playable on Itch.io but I plan on updating a more fixed version very soon as it's already fixed all of the issues people mentioned!
